A strange subject. When disconnected from the stars, should it be what awaits just outside your capsule or what you return to your home/base of operations to surround yourself with; what do you, the immortal, care to surround yourself with for ambience?
The crack of whips to the cries of slaves? Troops marching cadence? Tunes of harmony from within your sanctuary? Fine crops and natural breeze in a newborn colony? Golden hues of radiated light befitting Imperial glory with hymns of the divine echoing throughout station halls? Or even the gentle (hopefully steady) heart beat of your warp core?
And then, if desiring to dive further, I ask you why?
A curious survey, nothing more.
And to contribute I now offer my case:
I'm not usually good with people. Outside the capsule, I find my choice of ambience usually within my ship. Typically I walk the compartment my capsule is held in, which is separated from the crew. From corner to corner while browsing galnet pages via neocon or communicating through channels such as The Summit or Club Xotica I typically do not leave this section of the ship. For the capsule compartment is the beating heart of the vessel more often than not.
It is here you can feel the beast idle best. Gun belts cycle frequently felt through the walls as the copper aroma of nanites washing circuit boards as they diagnose hull integrity. In the far distance, perhaps the harsh shouting voices of bickering crew. Artificial gravity, when it works (as most of my vessels are Minmatar in design), ripples through the floor like gentle waves of a distant ocean, as you are standing nearly over the ship's center of gravity. If your guns have fired recently, the aroma of gunpowder and coolant hangs stale in the air; you practically feel like you're bathing within it.
It's a very alive sensation. An apex of wonder under the dim light.
It's easy to get carried away, to let your mouth run under the euphoric feeling of being at the top of the food chain. Perhaps this is partially to blame for my edginess.
Take me out of my ship and you'll find it's as if you've easily removed my tongueGǪ or perhaps just a very large chunk of my ego. |

I find myself surprised, I thought it was originally just me, but it seems there is a taboo amongst us all for having mortals amongst our choice of ambience. Should it be companionship or re-motivation for the times ahead. With all those who invest in us, none of us seem to want their companyGǪ
Do we perhaps loath mortals?
Are we a social class that is that truly elevated above man?
It's justGǪ interesting. |
